Are there any disadvantages of Assimilation?

  1. Yes.

The meaning behind assimilation is not this passive melting pot thing, but rather that you are actively made to lose your own cultural identity and take on another. I think the disadvantages in assimilation are that we lose the very roots of what makes us who we are and also many things that make us unique as different ethnicities and people groups.

  2. It's like hiding yourself to fit in, so if you can't express who you are and build stress on yourself and explode in the end, I'd say that's a disadvantage of assimilation.

  5. Yes because many times during assimilation, people start focusing or trying so much and hard into fitting in and adapting to their society/environment that they begin to lose their identity, culture, and tradition.

  7. Yes, because as people assimilate, they may not feel the need to pass down their traditions, language, and culture to their children because they believe that it would be more beneficial for their children to adapt to the new culture.

  8. The disadvantages will be cultural lost. Next generation don't know what's their cultural background. The unique culture will be disappeared.

  9. Of course there are many disadvantages to assimilation the first is culture and tradition lost. If there isn't any hold on the culture and traditions the culture will be lost. When you move to a new country its okay to experience new things but don't lose what makes you, you.
