L.A. Riots

How did the L.A. riots change the face of the city? Did it have impact ont he United States as a whole?

  1. The LA riots had a significant effect on the Korean community in LA. Many shop owners/ business owners receive the worse end of these riots. Thousands of dollars worth of merchandise were destroyed or stolen. The impact that it had in the country was that it showed racism still being in effect.

Yes, the L.A. riots were a wake-up call to the minority to the sad but true reality that, in times of injustice, those in power will often do what is better/safer for themselves rather than take risks to help those that don't hold as much sway. At the time, this was Korean store owners who were new to the country and could not speak much English and, therefore, were probably seen as less important and not worth the risk.
